Career Pathway Coordinator
The Career Pathway Coordinator provides support to youth within the Health Pathway program. Health Pathway programs provide young people with pre-employment training, academic training and work experience along a career track. The Coordinator is responsible for all program activities, including supporting youth retention and success, scheduling, teaching classes and leading work-based learning activities; scheduling volunteers and guest speakers to teach or lead workshops, conduct classes and field trips; developing and updating lesson plans; outreaching and maintaining relationships with current and potential employers and educational institutions and performing administrative functions as necessary. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Employment & Education.
Controller
The Controller is a highly detail-oriented, trustworthy, experienced and personable leader with strong analytical skills who will work closely with the Vice President of Administration and Finance to lead the organization’s finance functions, enhancing and managing the financial accounting, budgeting and reporting for First Place for Youth. The Controller will work with the management team to create a climate of integrity, accountability, and strong ethical commitment in First Place’s management of its financial resources. The Controller will maintain accountability and manage the resources to ensure quality performance in the area of financial contract and grant management, ensuring timeliness, efficiency and accuracy that maximizes sustainability and financial health.
Director of Evaluation and Learning
The Director of Evaluation and Learning is a seasoned, results-oriented professional with a successful track record of building an organizational culture of routinely using data to improve programs, performance and outcomes and experience in leading and conducting applied research and evaluation studies. This position will be responsible for strengthening and managing the organization’s performance measurement systems and processes, for promoting the practice of using data as a critical tool for program modification and improvement and for ensuring that the appropriate analyses and reports are prepared and disseminated to meet internal and external reporting and compliance requirements. In addition, the Director of Evaluation and Learning will coordinate and support external evaluators and consultants to prepare for and implement a rigorous evaluation of First Place for Youth programs.
Education Advocate- San Francisco County ILSP
ILSP focuses on stabilizing in-care foster youth with the goal of helping participants achieve their high school diploma and go on to post-secondary education. The Education Advocate plays a critical role in supporting a young person as they deal with the excitement, rigors and uncertainty of adulthood and departure from foster care. This position works closely with providers, such as social workers, attorneys, group home personnel, teachers and administrators to ensure youth achieve crucial milestones before emancipation. Critical youth objectives are attaining a high school diploma, identifying permanent connections, and entering into post-secondary schooling. The Advocate oversees two Education Specialists that each carries a caseload of, on average, 15 youth. The Advocate will support both specialists in their case work and facilitating groups while working with the primary providers in each client’s life to bring about a successful and smooth transition from foster care.
Housing Specialist- Los Angeles County
First Place is seeking an energetic professional who enjoys working with youth for the position of Housing Specialist. The selected candidate will work closely with the County Manager to maintain the apartments of youth living throughout the community. The Specialist will oversee all daily property management functions, which includes meeting new tenants on their first day to perform a walk-through of their new apartment, and conducting check-outs when youth exit program. The Specialist is also responsible for corresponding with youth to address landlord/tenant issues, complete maintenance requests and deliver failure to pay and/or pay-or-quit notices.
